Obtaining the Perfect Bite!
A thorough examination and mini-exam with Dr. Riley Lunn will consist of the following:
- A comprehensive clinical examination includes identification of bite and posture patterns: careful observations of signs and symptoms of your TMJ/TMD disorder, as well as how the disorder affects your posture, muscle tenderness, jaw joint function, and the destruction of your teeth and gum tissues. A digital CT-Scan of your head and neck including upper cervical vertebrae in used in diagnosing possible pathologies, sinus and airway insufficiencies, cysts, tumors, as well as possible cardiovascular concerns such as carotid artery disease.
Following the examination, Dr. Riley Lunn will recommend a treatment plan individualized for each patient’s needs. Depending on the nature and severity of jaw dysfunction, muscular therapy designed to relax muscles and reduce inflammation might be recommended. For other patients, more comprehensive diagnostics and treatments might be indicated, such as an orthotic appliance(s).
